Frequency/accuracy of Fieldpoint DO 400

I have a stepper motor in my process that is controlled via fieldpoint. I'm planning to control the stepper motor as well using my digital output module, but I wonder if the pulses will be accurate and frequent enough for me to know the exact angle at any given time and to move the motor fast/slowly enough? I read that the update frequency of the DO module is 20kHz. Does it mean that it gives out pulses 0,05ms long? and that the maximal frequency for my stepper motor will be 10KHz since it moves one step for every  5V high positive pulseside?

The DO module does not output pulses by default - it just outputs a On/Off state.  You can, however, force it to generate pulses by toggling the output very fast from your code.  Not sure if this is what you want to do.  If you want the hardware itself to output the pulses, you shold check out the PWM module.
