My FP-1600 module stops transmitting to the network after 5-20 minutes of operation for no apparent reason, why?

The module has been upgraded to the latest firmware version, before the problem started and several times after the problem has arisen. Field Point 2.0.4 is being used. No power losses have occured to interrupt operation of the module or the network. There is another module on the same hub that operates without failure. The lights on the front of the module and on the hub indicate that the module is receiving data, but not transmitting.

Mikhael,

What revision is the FP-1600 that is having problems? This can be determined by looking at the sticker on the bottom of the module and reading the Assy#. It will be 185690x-01 where x is a letter. If the module is revision A or B, please contact National Instruments Tech Support for an RMA number for and upgrade per ECO 13425. There was a manufacturing defect in some revision A and B modules that may account for this problem. To verify whether your module is suffering from the manufacturing defect, please download the test utility from: ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/fieldpoint/troubleshooting/FP1600Diag.zip

There are several other causes that can be considered as well. What is the ambient temperature around this module? Can you hook up an oscilliscope to the powe
r supply going into the FP-1600 and make sure it the power is not dipping below the 11V mininum limit?

The test utility did not flag any problems. the info on the back is:
MODEL: FP-1600
PART NO: 185690C-01
ENET: 00802F
ADDRESS: 095198
SERIAL NO: C520B0

The Device Properties box in FP 2.0.4 lists the module as having
serial# C520B0 - Revision A

The Ambient Temperature around the module is 75.8 F

Voltage supply is providing constant 13.84 VDC

What do you need to do to get the failed module back on-line? Does it come on by itself, do you need to power-cycle it, or something else?
While a module is off-line, can you try pinging the module and seeing if you get a response (I have seen cases where a FP-1600 and computer had the same IP which can provide spurious behavior).
What sort of error messages do you see from your program or from FieldPoint Explorer while the module is offline?

I had suspected, just as you had, that it was a problem with the IP address. I did ping the module on Friday and did not get a response from the module. I spoke with the network administrator today and learned that that particular IP address had been recently assigned to another computer. Thanks for your help.
