Shared Variables Organization

I've oganized a few dozen shared variables in multiple Virtual Folders within a Library, but when I list the variables in LabView, particularly in the constant shared variable list control, the Virtual Folders don't exist any more. Is there a way to organize the variables and have multiple levels of folders? Is this possible?

Thanks in advance.

Hi VRspace4,

Thanks for posting to the Discussion Forum. I've reproduced what I believe you are describing in the screenshot below. You can organize your shared variables by using Virtual Folders if you'd like. You can also organize them in different libraries. Is your question in regards to seeing "\\My Computer\Library Name\Variable Name" instead of "\\My Computer\Library Name\Folder Name\Variable Name". Please feel free to clarify your issue.

Thanks for your time to produce the screenshots. That's exactly what I meant; the shared variables in the virtual folders does not reflect the items in the list when you want to reference it. I understand you can make separate libaries for each set of shared variables, but when you have hundreds of shared variables this becomes really messy. Are there any workarounds?

Sorry I wasn't as clear on my last post.

Hi VRspace4,

Currently, all shared variable paths are one level below the shared library file. The virtual folders are only for organizational purposes and are not reflected in the path. If this would be a feature you'd like, please feel free to create a Product Suggestion. We greatly appreciate feedback from customer's to help us make our products better. With regards to a workaround, the workaround would be to create multiple Shared Libraries instead of virtual folders. You can simply right click the virtual folder and select "Convert to Library". I would recommend a Virtual Folder containing Shared Libraries instead of a Shared Library containing Virtual Folders. Using Shared Libraries instead of virtual folders should not make your project any more or less "messy".
