VB6 and compact fieldpoint

I have a request to add 4-20 mA and relay outputs to an existing VB6 application using compact fieldpoint.  Is VB6 still supported by the compact fieldpoint drivers/software, and if so, what is the recommended interfacing approach?

Scott,

There does not appear to be nay reason why you cannot use VB6 with compact FieldPoint. The implementation of your application should be the same for FP and cFP.  Here are some articles that reference this:

Thanks for those links.  My preference would be to communicate with the cFP via ethernet rather than serial.  Is that possible with the Optomux driver/command set, or is it restricted to the serial interface and another approach that would need to be used for ethernet?  I would prefer not to have to go the OPC route unless I don't have another choice.

Unfortunately, Optomux is restricted to the serial interface. Therefore, you have only 2 other options which are DataSockets which would require you to purchase Measurement Studio and OPC. You are welcome.

Thanks.  I will look into data sockets - we do have a Measurement Studio license (although it may need to be upgraded).
