Why Does my Fieldpoint FP1600 not communicate at 100Mps

I am running a data logging program with a FP-1600 Module. It starts out fine on a 100Mps but eventually stops. I do not have this problem with a 10Mps network...

When the FP-1600 stops communicating on the 100Mbs connection, what do you notice happens? Does the Link LED or 100 Mbs LED go out on top of the module? Does the status LED blink after this condition occurs? Can you do anything to recover the module or force it to communicate again? Is it directly connected to a computer or connected to a switch, router or hub? How long is it before you experience the problems. There is no reason why the module should not work. With more details, the cause of the problem may present itself. Thanks.

All I can see is the Transmit/Recieve lights stop, the FP explorer gives a buffer overflow error, and the software function calls return a Could not commincate error. What does a buffer overflow mean?

Hi,

After doing alot of digging, a little bit of information regarding the buffer overflow has surfaced. The buffer overflow is related to a buffer that is create for the internal advise routine that is executed in FieldPoint Explorer. The network modules are event-driven, therefore FP Explorer issues an advise to wait for an update. If communication is lost with the network module or if the advise is never updated, then it should be released and a new one should be issued. In this particular situation, the behaviour of the 1600 appears to be causing FP Explorer to not release the memory used by the advise and just causing it to issue a new advise; therefore over time creating an overflow.

I would recommend upgrading the Firmware for y
our 1600 module and seeing if you still get the behaviour then. The most current version is 417, which comes with FP Explorer 3.0.2 now and can be installed from the Remote System Explorer dialog window.

Hope this informationw as helpful.
