Why is the FP-2000 sending bad data?

I am using the FP-2000 with the TC-120 module on a MS Ethernet with Windows 2000 on the PC running LabView V6i.

With a 10 seconds logging interval, I am getting an occasional datapoint back from the FP that is always an integer and always in the range from 300 to 1400. Occassionally means once or twice every 24 hours and on different channels (not recurring on a single channel).

I am monitoring a process that is essentially at room temp so all 8 channels read between 19 and 30 degress C. The data immediately before and after the bad data point show nothing unusual.

Any ideas about what could cause this?

The random/interger part sounds odd.

Are the base plates firmly seated together?

Yes, the base plates are secure as are all thermocouple terminals. I have ruled out a mechanical fault due to the single data points coming back bad rather than a series. I also doubt ESD as the bulk of thr equipment is well grounded and the errors appear weather there are people around or not.

I would rule out the ESD as well.

Loose thermocouples would not give randon interger either.

That was the only idea I could offer.

There are several factors that could cause this problem including hardware problems with the modules themselves and software problems with the program performing the monitoring.

I would call the application engineers at 1-800-433-3488 and have them take a look at your system. Such a problem is easier to discuss and troubleshoot over the phone than through email.
