cFP-20200 not detected by max (but detected by LabVIEW)

Hi All,
I have 3 cFP-2020 modules on my desk, to test applications.  One, in particular, seems to be unreachable from MAX.  I mean, I can see it some times, but most of time it is seen as offline.

At the same time, if I perform a "ping -t 10.0.0.120", I always get success response, so the module is properly connected to my PC.  I tried with crossed direct cable, with fixed IPs, or trough my company LAN, with DHCP server, dynamic IP.... and always I see this module with ping, but not in MAX.

More strange, is that while MAX does not see this module, LabVIEW does, I can download applications, debug.... Of course, I tried to start first MAX, and then LabVIEW, and viceversa. Result is always the same!

I think there's no LAN conflict, 10.0.0.120 address is unique.

Any help will be really apreciated!

Greetings Graziano,

I would first make sure you are the Administrator for that computer, ALL firewalls are turned off, and any virus scanning software is turned off also. These will sometime identify FP controllers as malicous software that is trying to harm your computer, when in fact it is just trying to send packets to and from MAX.

Two more cases:

1. (connected to the network) It also sounds like it might be a IP conflict error. When it is seen "sometimes" it usually means something else has the same ip address. Are these all on the same subnet? If so, what about other computers on your network? A simple test to verify this is to turn off the controller and ping the same ip address. If you are still receiving packets, then there is something else on the network with the same IP.

2. (crossover) Does it still appear "sometimes" when you use a crossover or not at all? I'm thinking you might need to update the OS or format your cFP controller in MAX.

Finally, you may also try using other computers on the same subnet to see if they can detect the controller in MAX.

Well, I hope one of these solutions works! Good luck!

Hi Jordan,   I've abled MAX to pass firewall, turned off antivirus program, and executed MAX as administrator, but this didn't help! Moreover, I sdwitched off controller and pinged 10.0.0.120, no response.  The only thing that remains is to format cFP module, but I'd rather avoid it.... I'm near to delivering my application!

   Anyway...thank you!

Hi!

Lucky day, today.... I reached to gain access with max to cFP-2020 that showed problems, and rised timeout time, to 10 seconds. Now MAX seems to work really better.... maybe it was the problem....

Great! thanks for the feedback... I would have not suspected the timeout case.

Hi!
Just to underline that with a higher timeout it has less connection-loss (sound nice Smiley Happy ).  Anyway, it seems to be a problem in the communication protocol..... but I don't know details of it.....

Moreover, other cFP-20200 modules don't have so many problems, even with a lower timeout!

   Have a nice day!
