Hello. Thank you for contacting National Instruments!
There are a couple of steps that you can take to narrow down the cause of this problem. Here are a couple things to check:
1. Is power being disconnected from the FP controller and modules or is the power supply unstable?
2. Is the POWER light lit on your FP-TC-120 when the problem occurs?
3. Is the READY light lit on your FP-TC-120 when the problem occurs?
4. Are you removing or adding modules when the problem occurs?
More than likely the cause of this problem is coming from an unreliable power supply, a bad connection between terminal blocks of the FP bank, or a faulty network connection. If you are always able to communicate with the FP network module, then your network connection is good. I
f the power of ready lights on the TC module do not stay lit, check to make sure that your terminal block are fitting tightly together and that no pins are bent or shortened. Monitor the voltage of your power supply with a DMM to make sure that it is always supplying sufficient power. When adding other terminal blocks, be care that the other modules are still fitting tightly together.
If the module does go undetected, the READY light should no longer be lit. If the READY light is still lit when this happens, it is most likely a software error. You may want to consider updgrading to the latest FieldPoint driver. Here is a link: http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/webcategories/85256410006C055586256BBB002C0E29?opendocument&node=132060_US
