intermittent error on FP-AI-110

Occasionally we get errors (false constant readings) on all 8 channels of an FP-AI-110 module. Usually the error go away by themselves. We are using Lookout. There are several different modules connected to an FP-1001, and the other modules are fine even when the false reading occur. The error is very occasional and the system works the majority of the time. It is impossible to replicate the fault at will and may possibly (or may not) occur when the ambient temperature is increased slightly (but say to 32°C at the most). It's a tricky one as it is an intermittent problem and we can't go through the usual checks for a bad module etc. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hello,

It's Pete from National Instruments technical support department here. I've been looking around our internal database for a possible cause of these errors but have been unable to find anything useful.

Would it be possible to run the FP-AI-110 module on it's own without any of the other modules connected up to see if the error still occurs?

Also, what signals are you inputing to the Fieldpoint module? Could you try just connecting up a battery to see if the error still occurs with a constant voltage?

I understand that conducting these tests may disrupt your testing routine (depending on the other equipment you have and the type of routine you are running) but this is not a common fault, certainly not one that I can find any information abou
t. As it is not a common fault we must try to use some trouble shooting methods to pinpoint the problem, as it is an intermittent error these tests will take longer.

Anyway, let me know the results of these tests.

Best regards,

Peter H.
Applications Engineer.
