Did you mean:

is fp-1601 supported on an apple platform?

We are unfortunately using a pair of MAC G3 computers for control. They are running OS10 and LabVIEW 7.1 I would so much like to use them to control an FP-1601 and its' attached modules, however, I find no references as to compatibility with MACs. Must I resort to bit banging to talk with field point modules from a MAC or is there software available like for Windows that does it oh so easily?

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to communicate with the FP-1601 via a Mac. Logos (DataSocket) and OPC are the two protocols that you can use to communicate with the FP-1601. Logos is not supported on the Mac and I believe that is the same case for OPC. However, we do have several other controllers that will work with a Mac: (c)FP-20xx and FP-100x.

Thanks Ames,
I am currently using an FP-1001 with the POSMs and doing the bit banging routine to talk to and listen to it. It just makes life a bit more complicated. I recently purchased an FP-1601 for another project and it is extremely easy to talk to with my PC and LabVIEW 7.1 with the express VIs and MAX. Totally no comparrison between the two different methods. One would think that with OS10 being so Unix like and NatInst supporting the Linux OS that they might have made communications with the FieldPoint product line a little more cross platform.

You are correct. However, with our newer embedded controllers ((c)FP-20xx) it is much easier to communicate with on other platforms.
