Hello FakStory:

What program environment are you using? Have you tried communicating using Hyperterminal? Can you try to query the instrument?

Hi,
    Thanks for the answer...
I tried to communicated with it by hyperterminal, without success. I'm working with Labview 8.5 on win XP, it seems that the instrument doesn't response at all...Do I have to set something or activate a remote access on the device? All the communication setting for rs-232 are set, both on the device and in my application... I did it a lot of time, with many instrument, And each time I used a Omega product, I got some problem... You have an idea...

In addition, I tried to communicate with the software offer by the compagnie, it doesn't works... I saw somewhere, that it work with com2... (I don't remember exactly, maybe this is not for this device...but...) I only see com 1 in the Visa control...In MAX too... and Hyperterminal can't talk with com2...

Regards...

The problem is, I really think, that the instrument is set to COM2 and I only see COM1 In MAX...
I tried to force COM2 by writing this in the visa control, I can open a visa session in COM2, but I keep the same problem...
For who will ask if I can communicate with a serial cable, I test my communication system and it returns the correct caractere...

Thanks in advance...

FakStory:

Are you using your onboard serail port, if so that is why you only see COM1 in MAX. You would need another serial port for MAX to assign a COM2. I am not sure why the instrument is set to COM2, is there a way to change that to COM1?

Hi, thanks for your exact answer Roland!

a little bitte to late but exact anyway...I found how to change the COM2 in COM1, but the software that Omega gives (freely) communicate with COM2 by default...very strange...that why I was searching how to create additionnal com port...

Can I delete COM1 and replace it by COM2...(in case I find a device that can not be setting in COM1...)

Hello Fak:

I just found how you can change you COM port number through windows. In device manager if you go to the properties of the COM port, then port settings, then Advanced. In there you can change the port number. Hope this helps.

hi, thanks for giving this link. But I had tried but still failed. I am using 232 converter with a K type thermocouple. Is there anyone who has the exact driver for this requirement?
