reformat fp 2010 in safe mode

Hi,
       I have with me an NI FP-2010 controller module.I believe that the flash
memory of the module is corrupt.
Hence,I want to reformat the memory.But the problem is that the module is
getting
detected

only in the Safe mode.
The option for upgrading the OS is not visible in the safe mode,since OS
upgradation requires detection in the normal mode.
And with the current version of the OS on the controller,the option for
reformatting is not visible.
        Is there a possibility of reformatting the memory in Safe mode,using the
same OS (not upgraded).

Can you post more information about your system?
Current OS version, Max version, Firmware and everything else that you can gather.
