takeover current measurements

I need to measure the takeover current from one electrical motor, I using one cerrent transformer clamp (FLUKE Y8101) for take the data from the motor. I wired this clamp to "Iin" and "COM" in Field point module (FP-AI-110), I set the channel of acquisition data witn NI software tools and I chose 0-0,021A with 50Hz for range. The data that I read with Field point are irregular and not reals. The measurement are wrong! Where I wrong my work? How can I measure this current with that clamp?

Hi, FLUKE Y8101 is an AC clamp-on probe. Your module directly measures current, that's why you see it fluctuate.
You could sample your signal as fast as your module can, analyze it to find peak to peak or RMS information.

Also you could find some inexpensive IC that returns a voltage proportional to given AC current.

Hope this help!

Thanks Nick for your help. I'll search some inexpensive IC probe that can convert current AC signal in Voltage DC signal.
