two fieldpoints on one pc - error 32880

I tried to communicate with two fieldpoints with one pc. I use different serial ports and one IAK file with "FP Res" for the first point and "FP res1" for the second field point. When I start both programs only the one on the first serial port is running. The other one is showing an error: that fp open was not executeable.

What happens when you run these programs one at a time? Do they function correctly?

What type of controller and I/O modules are you using?

Are you using LabVIEW? If so, what version?

okay, the program I programmed is function correctly when I use fieldpoint Explorer 3 and the older program is function correctly when I use Fieldpoint Explorer 2 - otherwise I get the each time the error code 32800 (sorry I typed it wrong in my first request) "general server error" - and it doesn't matter if I am running each program alone or both at the same time.

I am not sure what do you with mean controller? (I just started programming with labview) but I am using a
FP AI-110 and a FP-RLY-420 Module and the other fieldpoint consists of 3 FP AI-110, 1FP RLY-420 and a
FP RTD-122 module. And yes I am using LabVIEW 6.1 on Windows NT.

I tried to install the Fieldpoint Explorer 2 on my computer, but it is not working correctly - the
field point explorer yes, but Labview doesn't notice the Fieldpoint SubVis - as FP open, FP close and so anymore!

Hello Nora,

When I say controller, I mean the network interface module. This is the module which connects to your computer via serial cables, probably FP-1000/1001, or FP-1600/1601.

So, one program works with FieldPoint (FP) 3, and the other works with FP 2? What happens when you try to run both with FP 3?

To install FP 2 on your computer, please follow the instructions in the following Knowledge Base.

In your case, you should probably be using FP-3.0.2. This is the latest and most stable build that supports LabVIEW 6.1.

okay the old program is now running - it seems that the SubVIs FP open, FP create tag, and so are not compatible between FP explorer 3 and FP explorer 2.
But now I have another problem - the second program is now giving me error code 32812 FP create tag.vi - and I have no idea why.
I have made a new iak file where the first set off fieldpoint modules is on com1 (FP Res) and the second set of fieldpoint modules is on com2 (FP Res1). - I can read the values from the second fieldpoint modules with the fieldpoint explorer, but if I start the application it shows this error!

Hi Nora,

This error indicates that the FP item that you are trying to read/write to is not saved to your .iak file. First, make sure that you save the iak file in MAX to add the FP items to the .iak file. Next, make sure that the tags that you are using in LabVIEW correspond EXACTLY to the tag names you assigned in MAX.
If you still cannot this to work, post your VI in your next reply and I will take a look at it.

I am not using MAX - should I use it?
I know now that both applications are running on ist own, but it is not possible to run both application at the same time! Is this not possible even if I put both set of fieldpoint modules in one IAK File??? If not what can I do to run both applications at the same time?? Would MAX solve this problem?
