Error with Status Code -200152, Data read from EEPROM invalid

Good Morning!

I have a PCI-5122 that was working fine.

I tried to use it in Magma external PCI box, working fine for a while.

The update speed with a cardbus adapter was very slow, however, after a couple reboots, I am now getting an error Autoset Failed| Data read from the EEPROM on the device is invalid.

........ Status Code -200152

I then tried to put it back into a computer on a PCI bus and still get the error, however, in M&AE it passes a self test as well as a reset device, but fails with the same error (-200152) when attempting a self-calibrate.

Please help!

Thanks very much,

John

Hi John,

I'm sorry you're having trouble here.  Let me start by first saying that, unfortunately, PCI adpaters are not officially supported, so there may not be a solution NI can provide for you.  Perhaps someone else on the forum has had success getting this setup to work for them.

That being said, the error you are receiving, while it could be caused by the incompatible hardware, often can indicate a bad EEPROM, which would mean you need to RMA the device back to us for repair.  Since that is a timely and costly process, I would recommend trying the card directly in a PCI slot in your PC to verify whether it works there.

If the cards also fails in your PC, you should contact us at (866) ASK-MYNI (create a service request first at www.ni.com/support).  We can help determine if the card needs repair.  If the card doesn't fail in the PC, then as I said before, hopefully someone on here can provide some insight on how to make this setup work.

Best of luck!

Hi Chris,

From reading every post on this subject it looks like the checksum in the EEPROM is incorrect.  On some boards it's easy to fix - but the 5122 may be more difficult.

The board self tests positive as well as resets with no problem, however, the EEPROM may have a bad checksum.

Also had error 314046 and it looks like NI-SCOPE may induce this error.

Chris, is it possible to reset the EEPROM checksum,  through a VI or other utility?

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

Unfortunately, there is no utility to flash the firmware on a PCI-5122.  There is only a utility we released for the PXIe version to unlock peer-to-peer streaming, which is not applicable on PCI.  I would recommend trying the card directly in a PCI slot.  If this causes the card to work, then you'll need to consult with your PCI adapter manufacturer.  Otherwise, please call 866 ASK MYNI after opening a ticket at www.ni.com/support to speak with an Applications Engineer regarding a repair on your board.
