Hi,

There are few things that I have seen cause the Soft Front Panel not launch. One is the wrong versions of the drivers. The Soft Front Panel has a utility that runs when it is opened to check your system for the correct dlls. If if cannot locate one or finds an incorrect version, it will generate an error. This error is usually very specific and will tell you what dll it could not find. What was the exact wording of your error?

Another thing I have seen that will cause the Soft Front Panel to generate an error is if your Windows/System directory is not in your search path. The Soft Front Panel cannot find and load dlls if this happens and will generate an error. If you could send the exact error message that you are receiving, I should be able to t
ell if this is the problem.

The message I get is

Initialization failed.

SoftFront panel still load. I tried then to test boards and I get the following error
0xBFFA0027 configuration file was not found on disk

Hi Fred,

I am not exactly sure what is causing this but it seems a file may be corrupt or missing on your system. Here is one thing you can try which will fix the soft front panel configuration file if that is what is corrupted:
1. Delete the file ScpSFPCfg_DAQx.h5 where the x is the device number of you board (you can find this in Measurement and Automation Explorer). For instance, if you device was device number 1, this file would be ScpSFPCfg_DAQ1.h5. By default, this file is located at C:\VXIPNP\WIN95\NISCOPE on Windows 95 or 98.
2. Restart your computer and then launch the soft front panel wich will create a new file.

If this doesn't work, could you let me know when the initializaton error occurs? Does it come up between the So
ft Front Panel splash screen and when the front panel appears or are you clicking on the error indicator on the soft front panel? Do you see the second error when you click on the error indicator on the Soft Front Panel or does it pop up in some other window?
