Error running FPGA VIs: Resource Name issue

Hi,
When trying to run FPGA VIs from the examples, I get the following error message:

"No FPGA Target Resource Name is Specified for this Target".

Renaming the Resource Name in Project Explorer didn't work. I can run the HOST VI and toggle the LEDs OK, therefore conclude the hardware is working well. Not sure if I'm missing any steps ?

I have attached a screenshot of the project explorer and the error message.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Manik

Hi Manik,

To be able to run the FPGA VI in Interactive mode you need to specify the resource name on the Target located in the Project Explorer window. To do that, right click on the Target and select properties. In that dialog you will find a field to specify the resource name (as it shows in MAX). Once you do that, the resource name will appear in parenthesis after the target in the Project Explorer windnow. I'm attaching a couple of screenshot to clarify this process.

Hope this helps

Mauricio,
The dialog-box I get looks different from yours. It does not show the resource field..I've attached a screenschot.
Please let me know if there's a way to fix this.

I can execute the FPGA VI interactively for now by creating a new target in the same project and copies the appropriate VIs and resources. It automatically fetches the correct resource name.

Thanks,

Manik

Manik,

Do you know which version of the software are you using? Specifying a resource name was not supported in earlier versions of the software , so I'm guessing that is the problem.

We have LabVIEW FPGA Module 8.0.0 (LabVIEW 8.0 , NI-5640R Version 1.0 Beta).

Hi

If you use the default name for the module, does the module and example programs work?

What versions are your software? LabVIEW, LabVIEW FPGA, NI-RIO, ni5640R?

Hi

When you get this error, are you running the Host VI?  Or are you directly trying to run the FPGA VI?

If you are directly trying to run the FPGA VI, the module information must be configured in the LabVIEW Project.  In the project resource list, the “FPGA Target (PCI-5640R)” need to have a resource name assigned.  It should look something like “FPGA Target (RIO0::INSTR, PCI-5640R)”.

To do so, follow Mauricio’s first post above.  He also has an image of the property page.

Or are you having an issue when running the Host VI?  In this case I would like to know if you can use the default name as found in MAX.
