Can I convert USB to RS232 by using USB-GPIB cable an GPIB-RS232 converter?

         As the title,  due to some special reasons, I am trying to convert the USB interface to RS232 in that way, could that be work?

         one more question, Can I set serial mode, such as S mode, C  mode etc in MAX

For a few dollars you have a usb to serial converter so why bother to go via gpib?

yes, you are right , but for some special reasons, I have to trying that. can anyone guide me if it will works?
