Can I make My GPIB-PC look like a PCII or PCIIA?

Can I make My GPIB-PC look like a PCII or PCIIA?

I'm trying to calibrate a TEK TDS540 Scope.
The 1991 vintage software runs only in DOS mode and
is hard coded to a GPIB-PCII or IIA.

What I have is a GPIB-PC 180100-02 REV G.

The rumor I heard was that NI added a register to the
card to foil counterfeit GPIB cards.
If that's true, I should be able to cobble a PAL on the
board to implement this???? Other changes?

If I'm writing programs, I use a generic 9914 card and bit-bang
it with a VB class module. I don't really have any use for
fancy control software.

All I want is to calibrate this scope without investing a LOT
of $$$ in yet another obsolete card.

Suggestions? Schematics???
Yes, I do have a LOT more time tha
n money.

Thanks, mike

Hi Mike,

It sounds like the nature of the modifications you are proposing will be difficult without very specific knowledge about the board implementation (as you suggested). With that said, I don't think NI will be willing to provide such information it may still be considered proprietary even for old HW products. In any event, how difficult do you think it would be to simply write new code to perform the calibration? It shouldn't be too difficult with the command set from the instrument user manual and your favorite programming language!

If you have the option to simply implement the calibration code, I would suggest trying to go that route as it may be faster than tracking down the information you may need to further pursue your current thoughts.

Thanks
and if you have programming question related to GPIB I/O definitely repost!
