Can an RS-485 Port send Data to an RS-423 Instrument?

I have an RS-423 instrument and would like to use a National Instruments RS-485 card to send data to it.  Can this be done?  Are there better National Instrument device alternatives to communicate with an RS-423 device?

probably yes for sending I don't know for receiving.

Just do not connect the - pin
