Did you mean:

Cannot configure PCI GPIB 488.2 card: Serial number greyed out.

Solved!
Go to solution

Im new here, I have read 102 posts attempting to resolve this problem, very few may have been relevant but I am grasping for straws.

System Specs:

IBM 300GL PII 750

256 RAM

You can stop laughing now.

GPIB PCI (Supplied by Mitutoyo for a Mitutoyo Bright-A910 CMM).

This card was working on this system, due to a malfunction of another peripheral a re-install of GeoMeasure and the GPIB card was required.

Nothing was changed other than uninstall/reinstall of software!

I have followed instructions from these two KB's and niether worked:

1. Grayed Out Serial Numbers for PCI-GPIB Boards under Windows NT

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/d4369b86117a0e15862567a90051b27c?O...

2. PCI-GPIB "Board Class Driver Failed to Load" under Windows NT 4.0

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/91C0A67CB1993B268625648200769FCE?OpenDocument

Side note; Item one; requires you to disable "Plug and Play" (P&P) services, when you need plug and play data to view for conflicts.  If "P&P" is disabled there is nothing to view under" Devices". How does that work?

I driver request has been sent via this website, I really dont have the time to wait for a reply.  So I am hoping others have found an asnwer.

Best regards

Rick

HI Rick,

What OS are you using? What version of NI-488.2 driver did you install?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, it was late last night when things got sorted out and I had forgot to reply to this topic.

An applications engineer form NI offered excellent assistance on this via email, after several hours it was determined the card may not or is more than likely not an NI card but a proprietory card from Mitutoyo.

Mitutoyo was kind enough to leave out any relevant information on the card to be of any help to the laymen, thank you very much.  Allthough Mitutoyo bundled the NI install software with there software package it turns out you DONT install the software.

Brilliant!?

The configuration is completed via TSNS (Top Secret Ninja Stuff), or undocumented information.  More brilliance...

And they want me to upgrade to a newer software package, NOT.

Unfortunately, I ASSumed the card was an NI device because of the automatic install program bundled with the Mitutoyo software.
