Communicating to a non standard serial port

Hi, I am using the "Basic Serial Write and Read.vi" example in labview. My problem is that it only allows me to communicate to standard com ports.

In device manager the port is labeled the following way:

Ports (COM & LPT)

Data Modem @3GPP Diagnostic Serial Port (6280) (COM4)

Does anybody know how to change the settings so I can communicate to port number (6280). I have tested communication in hyperterminal and communicating to port (6280) works.

Any advice would be grateful,

my email is mark.wexler@wtc.com.au

Kind regards,

Mark

Hey Mark,

Try right clicking on the VISA resource name and select "IO name filtering" There you can play with the options till you see your instrument ID. i.e. COM4 in this case.

Good luck
