I can't validated the COM1 Serial Port connection to TI's Ez430-F2013 in Measurement and Automation. Why?
Note that TI's Ez430-2500rf on COM2 be validated and works properlly. Running LABVIEW 8.2 Student Edition (fully updated with VISA Serial rev 3.5) and runtime 8.5
The drivers for both i/0 devices (COM1 and COM2) are found in my WinXP Pro device driver hardware list. Also, I can program both using TI's IAR IDE.
Need help making this work ..
Thanks

Hi,
Can you open a VISA test panel to the device on COM1 and if so do you get any errors when you try to communicate with the device? Try switching the ports you use to communicate with the chips and see if you can establish normal communication with the Ez430-2500rf on COM1 and see if you get the same sort of behavior on COM2 trying to communicate with Ez430-F2013. Also, make sure that no other program has control of COM1, like TI's IAR IDE, by closing this program before you try and access the chip over the com port in Measurement and Automation Explorer.

Matt

Matt - thanks for looking into this -
> Can you open a VISA test panel to the device on COM1 and if so do you get any errors when you try to communicate with the device?
I can open the VISA test panel for Ez430-2500rf on COM1 - this device works as it should in labview.
I can't open VISA test panel for Ez430-F2013 on COM2

I tried this previously - same results.

Yes the IAR IDE is closed. The error is repeatable.

Hi,
Do you have another Ez430-F2013 in which you can test with? Since you can get the Ez430-2500rf to work on both COM ports, I don’t think there is a problem with either of those. Are you trying to establish communication with the Ez430-F2013 or are you trying to program it? Do you get any sort of error message when you attempt to open a test panel to the Ez430-F2013? The differences between these two devices may be more significant that one would expect, I would double check your manual to make sure you have your configurations correct.
