Connect N6705B DC Power Analyzer to IVI and LabVIEW

Hey,

I am using a Agilent N6705B DC Power Analyzer and I wanto to use it's IVI for can control the intrument from LabVIEW.

Someone knows what I have to do ??

The comunication is via GPIB.

Please note that the pdf document does not explain how to use the IVI class drivers. If you do not use the class driver, it seems to me that there is no point in using IVI at all.

Be sure to download the latest IVI Compliance Package and the IVI driver itself. Then you open MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer) to configure the driver. There are instructions in MAX on how to do this.

If you are a beginner it might be best to start with the LabVIEW project-style driver.

I've included a few IVI getting started documents, below.  Let me know if you have any specific questions after reviewing them.

This first link will help you give you a step by step guide for setting up a simple IVI system.

1. Getting Started Using National Instruments IVI with LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI

Use the following link to download the IVI driver.  To list all IVI drivers by manufacturer, first expand the Technology field on the left side of the page and select IVI.  The Technology field is the second to last filter group, just above Interface.  Repeat the same process on the next page that is loaded, but expand the manufacturer filter group/field and choose from the alphebetized list of manufacturers.  If you do not find the driver you are searching for then you can also use the Request a new driver link in the bottom right corner of the page (first link under the Need Help section).  The previous steps will help you in the future when lookin up IVI drivers;  as a shortcut, the IVI driver for the N6705B is also available here.

2. Instrument Driver Network (IDNet)

This final link is important as it will will guide you through configuring your IVI system using Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).  There is a section on configuring MAX in the first link, but both articles can be useful.
