Connecting USB Instrument to GPIB Network

Hi all,
I recently bought some new Tektronix DPO4104 oscilloscopes that do not have a GPIB connection. I have some NI GPIB-USB-B USB-to-GPIB adapters that I have used in the past to control instruments from a PC. I want to connect these oscilloscopes to the GPIB bus that everyone at my site is familiar with, and I don't want to link the oscilloscope to the PC through USB. Is there a way to use this NI adapter to go from the scope's USB port to the GPIB bus used in the rack system I currently have? I was unable to get that adapter working for the scope, and I believe a driver needs to be on the USB side in order to get the adapter working. The scope does not have Windows on it. What can I do?
Thanks for your help!

The GPIB-USB is only for communicating between a pc and a GPIB instrument. It is designed to be used instead of a pci GPIB board. The USB port on the instrument cannot be modified so your only option is to connect the instrument directly to the pc with a USB cable. If you didn't want USB on the instrument, why were they bought that way? What is the objection to using a USB instrument like it was intended? It should use the same instrument driver as the GPIB version.
