Control Parallel port with Windows Vista and LV8.5??

Hallo Guys!!!

So I read many of the answers problems with parallel port with windows xp or 2000 and so on... but I couldn't get a solution for my case.

I'm using a laptop with windows vista and LV8.5.1 ....  and I can't control the parallel port with Inport.vi and outport.vi ..... I read that is possible to control with VISA but I went through the examples with VISA and it requires the baundrate etc... that I don't know what I should use to parallel port since I just want to control the pins separated....

I have configured the bios to the mode Output only.... and avoid the modes.. EPP and ECP....

so could someone give a clue how to get around with this.....    I read that is possivel in the website of NI ... to use the parallel port with LV.8.5 and windows vista..... but it was written that is necessary some upgrade...  so what's that?

 Thanks in advance!!

 Ricardo

When you use VISA, you are NOT required to set the baud rate. Why do you think this is true? The only VISA examples that set the baud rate are the serial port examples. You can optionally use a VISA Open but starting with a VISA write is okay as well.

Hallo Dennis!

Thanks for your answer.... but ... I check it  at Instrument I/O and the VISA that I have is for Serial.... where can I find for parallel port... or maybe install?

 Thanks!

That does not make any sense. On the Instrument I/O palette, you have a VISA palette. Use it. There are no special functions for the parallel port and none are required.
