EAOB error with HP/Agilent 5528A

I don't know, I'm trying to predict every possible think, that might be reason of the error, cause I don't have much time to solve the problem.

the "talker only" option was common on older HP products.  Specifically. it was used to allow an instrument to print to a HP printer through the GPIB port.  It does not allow for remote control of the instrument- just a great way (for the age) to document results.  The age was before floppy drives were common so a hard copy on paper was better than a punch-card (and contained more information).

Hi

One more test to perform - you could try to use the Talker mode for troubleshooting. If I understand correctly, if you set it on, the device would periodically send some data over port. Then you can try to read that data. This way you can avoid any problems with wrong command sending (wrong termination char, etc)

Let us know how it goes

Ahem -

see my post above.  The talker only option will only send data out when the front panel Print button is pressed.

Hi,

I am quite new to Labview, I'd like to get some help.

I try to use the same intrument as the starter of the topic "HP/Agilent 5528A", and my problem is, that I cant't set up a connection between the instrument and my PC.

I'd been trying to use 2 vi-s, that are attached, but I get error-s when using them.

According to the instrument manual, instrument adress is "5" and there are lots of commands, "M2" is one of them, that should work.

It may be that the syntax of the adress and command is wrong, I've tried *M2, "M2", and M2.

I even don't know if the vi-s may be good for the task.

Could you help me, how to communicate with the interferometer?

Thank you!

You did not fill in the correct visa resource name.

try to select a resource name by clicking on the black tryangle of the visa resource name.

What error do you get now? And, are you using an NI GPIB controller and if so, does the Agilent instrument show up in MAX when you do a scan for instruments? Lastly, what is the exact VISA Resource Name that you selected?

I am using a GPIB controller like this:

http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/201586

I get the error messages like on the pictures ttached depending on which vi I use.

I don't see the instrument in MAX, and and if i click on the "visa resource name" I don't see anything and I get the error message.
