Erro in new GPIB that not happens in old GPIB

At the company I work for, we use the GPIB cable to connect atomic absorption devices to their respective computers.
However, when using new cables, they do not communicate with the equipment. And the ancients allow communication. 
The part number of the part is the same, but communication does not occur.
What can I do to fix this error?

Do you mean USB-GPIB device or just a GPIB-GPIB cable?

If it is USB-GPIB device, it could have enumerated with a different address causing your program to not work any longer depending on the code.
