Eurotherm 201 controller error message

Dear colleagues, The error message EE.er came up in the controller (Eurotherm 201) display and I cannot operate my Carbolite furnace. Up until then, I was using it at low temperatures (300C) for biomass-to-biochar conversion experiments. The message appeared suddenly without any misuse or malpractice. I am going through the operation and maintenance instructions Manual but I cannot even access the user calibration set up. Any ideas ? thanks Dimitris Kalderis Lecturer Technological Educational Institute of Crete Department of Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering Crete, Greece

Hello Dimitris,

I could not find any information related to your furnace or your error message. I did find the furnace might have an RS-232 or RS-485 port. Can you tell us which is the case?

I found several instrument drivers for Eurotherm devices here, but none seems to be specifically for the one you have. I was wondering if you have an instrument driver yourself, either provided by Eurotherm or developed by you or other user.

Knowing some details about the software you are using might help us giving you some troubleshooting steps to try to figure what is the problem. Are you using LabVIEW? Perhaps LabWindows or some other software.

Isn't this a question for Eurotherm or Carbolite?

Thank you both your replies,

It is a Carbolite ELF furnace fitted with a Eurotherm 201 controller. At first I thought it was an error related to the furnace itself but searching the manuals

I found out it is a memory corruption error of the controller.

Camilo, I will check whether the furnace has an RS-232 or RS-485 port. I don't have an instrument driver - from your msg

I realise that it may be possible to install a new driver in the controller software and fix the error  ?

Calling a certified technicial to fix this, would cost me more than 200 usd, due to travel distance, accomodation etc

thanks

Dimitris

Since the error is not related to any NI hardware or software and the fix is not related to any NI hardware or software, it does not make much sense for you to post to this board. The instrument driver mentioned is not even close to the driver that the controller is using.

200 USD seems very inexpensive to me.
