GPIB/PCI controller card compatiblity (Novocontrol NovoGPIB)

Hello,

I am developing a VI to control a NovoCool Cryosystem (from NovoControl) with Labview 2011 through  a GPIB controller from the same constructor.

My problem is that the controller doesn't appear in MAX and therefore I can't communicate with my device (for now I am just trying a GPIB write/read sequence).

The card is name NovoGPIB and is said to follow 488.2 protocols.

I tried removing the constructor driver, installing the NI 488.2.exe utility, and also installing every additional labview components i could find, but nothing seems to be working.

I also can't find any NovoControl related driver on NI website. (The company doesn't seems to enjoy people not willing to buy their overexpensive software).

Please help me, I am desperate. Well not complety desperate, i know that in last resort i can still buy a GPIB controller from NI but i would be very grateful if someone here could help me find a solution that doesn't involve buy anything.

Thank you in advance for the time you might spend helping me

You can always communicate from labview with the novocontrol gpib card.
If novo control has a driver that can interface with c or basic it also can interface with labview.
MAX only knows about ni hardware or tulip compatible gpib interfaces
I would ask novocontrol.....

Thanks for your quick answer.

The novoGPIB is supposed to be c/c++ compatible. It appears correctly in WinXP hardware manager yet i don't know how to declare it so that i can use labview gpib functions.

Could you give me a clue as where to look to make it work?

Thanks again

You can'use labviews gpib functions. You should call novocontrols functions.
Labview perfectly can use c-dll calls

Thank you all for your assistance.

Solved the problem by buying a NI USB/GPIB adapter... plug'n'play works perfectly.

Novocontrol indeed didn't wish their hardware to be LV compatible.
