GPIB USB HS DRIVER LOAD vs USER PROFILE

Here is my cherry popping post.

Prelude:  I'm running the GPIB USB HS with a E4407B.  My GPIB USB HS part number is 187965B-01.  I'm running Windows XP Professional SP2.  I can load the GPIB using an administrator account on my laptop and use it fine with user and power user accounts.

Situation:  The system will run like a champ nearly all the time.  However, for some reason (still researching the cause) the laptop stops recognizing the GPIB USB HS and requests for it to be reinstalled.  Since most of my field users do not have administrator rights they're up the creek.  I'm new to the GPIB world and since there isn't a disk with it I'm assuming the driver loads from my GPIB USB HS.

Question:  How can I make it possible for my field users to reload the GPIB USB HS without giving them adminstrator rights?

If this board works, expect my next question to be on NI Compact PXI and how I can get my desktop NI PCI card to load without looking for a mystery Streamstor.inf file.  That will be on another section of this forum.

I don't think that you will need to reinstall the driver.

Windows allows the the computer to turn off USB devices to save power. The device is being turned off and therefore it is asking for the device itself to be reinstalled. You will need to go to the Device Manager and un-select this for your device.

Do this by going to your Control Panel>> System>> Choose the Hardware Tab and open the Device Manager. Then under Universal Serial Bus Controller find your device, right click and select properties. Under the Power Management Tab there is a selection that allows the computer to turn off this device to save power. Un-select this and then your device should not have any problems.
