It may be a speed/timing issue, hard to tell. I say at this point, we can consider just your newer system and treat this as a basic "Establish communication and get started with my instrument" issue.
- Do you have the manual of the device you are trying to communicate with? Can you post it?
- Are you sure it is 488.2 compliant? (some are 488.1...)
- Do you have any other GPIB instruments that we can use as a test?
- What OS is on the newer system?
- Have you installed your NI GPIB card and seen it in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)? Can you include a screenshot?
- What happens when you click Scan For Instruments on this GPIB interface in MAX? You should see your instrument in the Connected Instruments section. Can you post a screenshot?
- If we are successful up to this point, then the NI GPIB interface is installed and configured properly.
