GPIB analyzer doesn't work with GPIB USB-B

I recently purchased a GPIB USB-B. In trying to communicate I attempted to start the GPIB analyzer and got a "missing card" error. Of course there is no card, it is a USB device. My question is, does NI plan to make the analyzer work with the GPIB USB-B?

Hello,

The analyzer application only works with PCI-GPIB+ or AT-GPIB/TNT+ boards. The "+" means that it has additional circuitry to capture GPIB events at high speed (50ns resolution, I believe). Thus, the analyzer will not work with the PCI-GPIB card, AT-GPIB/TNT card, or any USB-GPIB interface.

Thanks,
Scott B.

Are there any plans to add support for USB GPIB's to the GPIB analyzer?

Hey Chuck P,

Unfortunately, your current USB device just doesn't have the hardware to support the GPIB Analyzer, and it's unknown if R&D would like to support it on a USB device. The best thing I can recommend is go to http://www.ni.com/contact and click on feedback on the bottom left. I would make a product suggestion there, and explain why you think it would be helpful to have the analyzer on a USB device.

Regards,

Nick D.
