Given a blank sheet, what driver package would you select for GPIB to Agilent products?

We are starting a new measurement project. We'll be using Agilent signal generators such as the 33250, driven by GPIB. There seems to be several types of interfaces,VISA, IVI, and so on from LabVIEW. In fact, there are enough that we are getting confused by the various capabilities. Does anyone have a few words on a good direction to go, or selection criteria, or a reference on the choices?

I would select the driver that is on the NI-site.

Those were useful, thanks. For my application, IVI drivers are probably not needed. We are doing relatively straightforward signal generation and capture, so the PnP are just fine. Thanks for both replies.
