Hi all,
I can't install NI-VISA v.5.0.0.iso on Centos 5.5 distro. I have followed the README file and I have seen that this problem is solved into OpenSUSE disto. The error is
************************************ ERROR *************************************
* Kernel source does not appear to be installed for the 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 kernel.
* Installation of the kernel-source package for kernel 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 is
* required to continue this installation.
************************************ ERROR ************************************
I have installed also the kernel-source package as showed into following link http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/I_need_the_Kernel_Source. The error is the same.
Could you please help me?

Hi Scagno!
Unfortunately VISA driver is not compatible with CentOS.
What kind of device do you have to control with thos driver (usb, serial, gpib..) ?

hi,Scagno83: I can install NI-Visa4.4 in Labview8.6 on centos5.6, but I can't install visa5.0 on centos5.6, it says:
******************************** ERROR ****************************************
* The version of gcc in the path does not match the version of gcc used to *
* compile the currently running kernel. This can cause unpredictable *
* behavior in kernel drivers and should be fixed. *
* gcc version: gcc 版本 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-50)
*
* kernel compiled with: 4.1.2 *
******************************** ERROR ****************************************
Have you tried visa5.0 on centos5.6?

Hi lup,
I have updated 5.5 distro to 5.6. I have run updateNIDrivers utility as root. So I confirm you that NI-VISA 5.0 driver works also with CentOS 5.6.
