I'm unsure when configuring a RS485 interface as two wire, which wires it uses?

When configuring as two wire auto, does the RS485 Unit connect the TX and RX lines internally or do you have to do it externally?

You don't state what hardware you are using, but any 4-wire RS-485 device I have used in 2-wire mode required me to physically tie the lines together.
