I need to communicate with GPIB instruments using the NI GPIB-USB interface. How do I begin to write code in Visual Basic that will allow me to communicate with the interface and start talking to my machines?

This thread was dealing with VB.NET, not VB, so the user was not using those examples. Please start a new thread asking your question. Actually, you should do a search, since the question of using VBA has been brought up before. If you cannot find your answer, then create a new thread.

Thanks for your help.

Since having asked this question (I believe last January) I have made quite a bit of progress.

I was able to write a suite of 3 auto-test programs that operate our RF power test station (3 sig gens, 3 power amps and 2 power meters and all are working well. I couldn't have accomplished this without the NI forum

Best Regards,
