Instrument Driver Compatibility

One of my vendors has a Labview driver written for Labview Ver. 4. He seems quite sure it won't work with the current version of Labview. Is there any way to convert this driver for use with Ver. 8.2 or do I have to start from scratch?

You should be able to convert a version 4 program to something current. As far as it working or not, that would depend on how the driver was written and what functions are used. For example, there are GPIB drivers on NI's site that were originally created many years ago and work as is with LabVIEW 8. My reecomendation would be to get the driver, try it, and see what happens.

Maybe your supplier used the old serial routines in his software.
They still work in LV8.2.1 but the driver is not installed anymore since LV version 7.
