Interfacing HP Agilent 4278A with MAX.

I'm having problem interfacing HP Agilent 4278A with MAX. When I try to add the device, I can't seem to find the unit. I am connecting via GPIB.

I read some post and found that I needed to:

- Enable Agilent GPIB card for NI 488.2 in Agilent Connection Expert

- Enable NIVISATulip.dll

I followed the steps but still can't find the unit in MAX. Can somebode provide me with a guideline?

Hi JHincapie,

Are you using a National Instruments GPIB card in your computer or are you using an Agilent one? If it is a National Instruments card, you should be able to select it and scan for instruments and the instrument should appear regardless of the company that makes the instrument. Is this the step that you are taking that does not show the instrument in MAX?

Ryan,

I'm using a Agilent GPIB card. When I go into MAX to add a device, I can't seem to be able to find it. My hardware is properly connected and the GPIB card identifies it. The overall idea is to communicate with the device to record data using NI Signal Express or Labview. But MAX needs to recognize it first before I can proceed and I can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Juan

Hi JHincapie,

If you are using an Agilent GPIB board then you will want to follow the steps in this Knowledge Base.

Buen dia amigo.

Si utilizas una tarjeta Agilent, probablemente tendrias que utilizar el software de agilent para que pueda reconocer los instrumentos por medio de esta tarjeta.

saludos
