You cannot use the PCI-GPIB board in the DOS operating system. You can however, you can use DOS programs through the Windows DOS prompt if you enable DOS support for the NI-488.2 driver.

The PCI-GPIB board is not explicitly supported in DOS by any driver. NI has a 488 driver development kit that will allow for support of the PCI in DOS but requires software development by the user in order to use it. The latest version of the NI-488DDK ships with DOS examples and is compatible with the PCI-GPIB. Information on the DDK can be found at http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/reg_prog.htm. You can procure a copy by contacting either you NI sales representative or contacting NI directly at (512)683-8411

Has anyone that you know made use of this?
I have been encouraged by NI to update our hardware which I have done, but have problems as we run Labwindows/DOS that will not run in a DOS window so we have gone to a dual boot system DOS/Win98 but are having trouble using the PCI-GPIB card with DOS. Long term will likely use LabWindows/CVI. Malcolm
