Joystick interface with sbRIO

I have sbRIO and I want to connect my joystick to one of the serial port of sbRIO. I have serial to USB convertor but have no idea how to utilize serial port of sbRIO.

I have to extract information from joystick and control the duty cycle of PWM on output
