Labview 2015 cannot find instruments

Hi Everybody,

I am having real trouble getting Labview 2015 NI MAX to 'see' any connected instruments and would really appreciate any help/tips please.

I am running Labview 2015 on Windows 10. I have tried connecting to a Picoscope 2207 - and whilst the Picoscope standalone software can see and interact with the hardware, Labview cannot. I have the same trouble with the Tektronix TDS1001B oscilloscope. Both devices are connected via USB. I have the Tektronix driver downloaded in Labview, but still cannot 'see' the instrument.

When I open MAX and click on 'device and interfaces' nothing shows up, even after pressing refresh. The thing I don't understand is this was working a few months ago and now doesn't! I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Labview, I have tried a different PC (running Windows 7). I am concerned that an autoupdate from Windows 10 and/or Labview 2015 might have caused an issue, or am I doing something wrong?

I would be extremely grateful for any thoughts and help.

Thank you very much in advance

first check device manger to know whether your pc could find related port or not (driver is ok or not ok)
then try to use some related software that you can find in internet for DS1001B oscilloscope
if it was ok so problem is relate to Labview
try to use find instrument tools in labview if you can not find any thing try to repair max and it related database
and if it is not fix yet that is weird thing

In MAX under the Software section, What shows up for VISA?

According to proficy

The Picoscope "Operates with Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8" you may need to update that device which is no longer manufactured

I'm assuming you have the 4.5 version of the Tek driver.  If not upgrade.

Thank you very much for taking the time to offer me some help-I really appreciate it!

After following your steps I am pretty sure the problem is with Labview and as you suggested I tried to 'find instruments' under the 'Tools' menu in Labview, but 'scan for instruments' did not show anything. I then repaired MAX and the database but it still does not work-yes a very weird problem!! I have done several uninstalls/reinstalls etc but nothing. If you have any more ideas then I would love to hear them-otherwise thank you for your help so far.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you very much for taking the time to offer some help. I have taken a snapshot to show what shows up under 'software' in MAX. - is there anything in there that looks wrong to you?

I have installed the latest Tek driver-thanks for the link. I have also done uninstall, reinstall, repair MAX and its database but still nothing. PC can see the devices though.

If you have any more thoughts I would be interested to hear them-otherwise thank you for your help so far.

First a little netiquette: don't post docx's save a snip or screenshot as .png then add the picture inline.  That lets us all see the pix and not everyone WILL or CAN open a Word doc. its propriatary and a virus vector.

MAX looks good.  Try disconnecting the picoscope and rebooting- that device may be fouling the whole thing up since it isn't supported on the OS
