Hi,
MAX (Measurements and Automation Explorer) cannot see the computer's serial ports (9 pin RS-232s). I am using Labview 7.1, and running Windows XP (although I believe that the manufacturer has also installed Windows Vista). When I go under Control Panel> Systems> Hardware> Device Manager> Ports, I do see both of the ports (COM1 and COM2), and both have the latest drivers on them. Does anyone know of any way to add the "Ports" sub-branch under the "Devices and Interfaces" branch in the Configuration tree in MAX?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
P.S. Labview had been shutting down in the middle of editing a block diagrams a number of times before and I reinstalled it a few days (without getting rid of the problem, unfortunately). I wonder if this problem with MAX is somehow related to that...

You could try upgrading to 4.5 or simply unistalling/reinstall the version you have.

Hi ghlaah,
It is an unmodified, professional version. I checked the COM port's property dialog and the default value has not been changed.
