I'm going to need to develop a test program on a VXI test system that is controlled by an external PC running LabView 8.2 and linked with a MXI-2 interface. For my needs, I'll need to add a PXI chassis for some additional capabilities. My question is if it is possible to purchase a PXI - MXI-4 interface (or something else) and daisy chain it along the existing PCI - MXI-2 chain or would I need a second MXI interface in the PC? If it is possible, are there any requirements on where the PXI chassis is in the chain?
TIA,
George

A little clarification of my confusion 😉
I guess what I am unsure of is whether or not there is a "MXI bus" since I see MXI-2 and MXI-4 cards, or if they merely extend VXI and PXI buses with bus-specific adaptation to the PCI bus. Seems to me that if there is a MXI bus, it shouldn't care what devices/backplanes are daisy-chained onto it.
The motivation for the question, is the external PC in question is PCI-slot challenged (i.e., I have no available PCI slots, but need to add a PXI chassis).
