Measurement hangs; PCI-GPIB WinXP

Hello,

I have the following problem:

We have upgraded to a new PC so also the operating system was changed from win98 to winXP. We use a PCI-GPIB board to control a Keithley 236. The Labview (6.1) program is really simple: set voltage, read current and so on, using the drivers provided by NI; the speed is about 1 point/sec. Before the upgrade everything was OK, but now after few set voltage-read current cycles (2..10) the program hangs because it cannot write/read anymore to/from the Keithley.

I have installed the NI-488.2 drivers for XP and the XP detected it as the card shows up in the Device Manager without any conflicts;
The card shows up in the  Automation Manager, I see the intruments on the GPIB and can talk to them without problems.

I have tried:
- moving it into another PCI slot,
- different version of Labview,
- removed all software and drivers and reinstalled the card accordind to the manual,
but I still have the same problem. So as far as I see it I'm running out of options.

Can anyone tell me if there is something else I could try?

Thank you

Hi nonee,

Is the new computer considerably faster than the old computer?  If so, you may need to adjust the bus timing of your application.  Are you receiving any errors when the program hangs, and if so, what number/type?  Also, what version of the 488.2 driver are you now using and is the behavior the same with all the version of LabVIEW you have tried (sorry for another question, but what versions did you try on?)?

Hope this helps!

If you perform a capture using NI Spy, you should be able to tell exactly where you application is hanging up.
