Hello,
I am doing some experiment with NAT9914xx. I understood from various sources that this ASIC is connected to the GPIB bus through some transceiver ICs, i.e. TI's SN75ALS160 and SN75ALS162. Whilst I'm waiting for the part, I wish I can carry out some testings.
So here is the question: If the only devices exist on a GPIB bus is my testing board and a GPIB capable equipment, can I have the NAT9914 on my testing board connected directly to GPIB bus without using the transceivers?
Thanks & best regards,
WH Tan

Hello,
These transceivers are absolutely necessary when communicating with GPIB instruments. That is why they are in the hardware section of the 9914 manual. The transceivers will output the correct voltages/line transitions. Without them, there will be errors in communication.
I hope this helps,
