I am attempting to install NI-488.2 on a fresh computer running Windows 7 Pro downgraded to XP. During the software install I get a message "The NI VC2008MSMs x86 installation has failed with the following error"
"The Windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode, or if the windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance'
Windows is not in safe mode
Windows XPpro SP3
CPU i5 2.94GHz
1 GB Ram
The downgrade is required to support other legacy equipment and interfaces installed in the computer.
I have tried updating the windows installer to 3.1, and then 4.5
I have installed Microsoft Visual C++2008 Redistibutable - x86 9.0.30729.17
Am I missing something?
