NI-8451MAX Test Panel Opening Failure

Hello,

I've purchased the NI-8451.

The NI-845x S/W version 1.0 has been fully installed on my PC without previously installed any LabView related S/W.

I would like to use the test panel for this device before I use this device further. For some reason the option for the "Open Test Panel" is grayed out.

I'm attaching the Max window snapshot.

Hello,
What version of NI-VISA do you have installed? You didn't mention what version of Windows you are using, but you can find the lates version on NI-VISA (3.6) for Windows 2000 and XP here. Hope this helps.

Regards,

There is currently no test panel for the USB-8451. Hopefully in a future version we can include some basic test panel functionality. I recommend trying to run some of the examples to try out the functionality of the hardware.

Unfortunately, if you do not have LabVIEW installed, you will not have any examples to run. Do you have LabVIEW available to install?

Hello,

I am trying to use USB-8451 I2C functions via MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer) VISA Test Panel. Does anyone of you have such experience ? Please share with me. How can I access USB-8451 I2C functions via MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer) VISA Test Panel ? Your help is highly apprecaited.

By the way, I also tried to use compiled function (*.dll) to control USB-8451. I followed the examples to execute I2Cwrite function and I got correct return value (0). Why can't I see any signals coming out from SDA or SCL port using a oscilloscope ? Is there anything wrong ? How to access the USB-8451 I2C functions correctly ? Thank you very much.

Dear Sirs,

Sorry for my abuse of the forum resources. I am so helpless and need to get an answer ASAP. Would you please kindly help ? Thank you very much.

        My question :

1. How to access NI USB-8451 I2C functions via MAX VISA Test Panel ? May I get any user instructions or directions about the usage or any examples ?

2. We've tried to use the compiled function (*.dll provided by NI) for controlling USB-8451, but in vain. We didn't see any outputs coming out from SDA or SCL ports. What's the possible problem and solutions.

Your help is highly appreciated. Thank you very much.

The answer is no. The only way to access the NI-8451 is by using the NI-845x driver. It uses VISA to communicate, but it has an intricate protocol that you will not be able to duplicate manually.
