Hello,
I have a DELL Latitude E5410 using XP OS. MAX crashes as soon as I "scan for Instruments". The version of NI Drivers is 2.7.
NI MAX will display the GPIB-PCMCIA card, in the Trouble shooting Utility it flags a Fail on the GPIB0. I know this card works as I have tried it in another DELL PC (Latitude D630).
If I use a USB GPIB it works OK. However I need to get the GPIB PCMCIA card to work. Help?
Many Thanks

Hello jdc33,
Your testing thus far has put us in a good position to start comparing the two types of laptops you have tried this GPIB PCMCIA interface with.
You have said that your new E5410 works with the USB-GPIB-HS well, which could prove that all the necessary drivers are installed correctly. You have also confirmed that the GPIB PCMCIA device works well on a D630, which can help exclude damage to your card.
I see two possiblities:
For the PC to work well with a GPIB device, two drivers are need:
Find the version numbers on each laptop using MAX
After investigating the drivers, the solution could be to download the latest version of NI-VISA (5.0.2) and NI 488.2 (2.8) and reinstall them in the correct order. Otherwise, more research can be done on the exact chipset being used.

Hi Joe,
Do the files above contain the complete list from the 'System Information' window, or have you truncated the data? If so, please include all of the information in your next post.
If this is everything, I recommend that you download and install the latest version of the drivers I discussed above with the steps below.
What are your results?

Hi George,
Sorry still not working. There's no change.
I have attached the message to Bill Gates. Maybe this may help you!
