Hi,
I have a problem after installing a PCIe GPIB card to my PC. The GPIB driver 4.17. is already installed, but the windows device manager just finds the card as a "PCI communication controller" and therefore is not able to connect a driver to the device. Also, if I try manually to install the driver, windows still thinks that these are not the correct drivers.
What can be the reason for this?
Also, I have a second card, (not PCIe, but PCI) which is known to be working on a different PC, but behaves same on mine.
Best regards,
Bodo

Maybe another adder:
Here is the screenshot from the NI MAX. It says: Windows doesn't associate any driver with this device.

Hi,
could you some more information about wich Windows Version you are using?
Maybe a MAX Report could help.
Best wishes

Hi,
thank you for that piece of the MAX Report.
So you have another device that shows the same behavior on your PC but works fine on another?
Could you check the same for the PCIe GPIB device?
This should clearify if the issue is device related or software related.
It seems to be the software, this is just to double check.
Could you try to uninstall the driver and reinstall it as well?
Thanks

Hi Dennis,
Regarding your question: "Could you check the same for the PCIe device?":
Unfortunately I cannot insert the PCIe GPIB card into the other PC, since the PC has no PCIe slot. Or do you require the report for the PCI card in my actual PC?
I tried to reinstall the driver several times, I did even try an older version (15) in between, which didn't help.
In the meantime I also used the PCIe card in a third PC, but there it showed the same behaviour as in the first PC.
Best regards,
Bodo

Make sure that the GPIB cable is NOT connected. If one of the GPIB instruments on the bus locks up, the cards will not be recognized. First load the drivers and then the cards. Once it is recognized, then attach the GPIB bus and try to find other instruments.

Dear All,
thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, the cable was not connected. I first installed the card and then the driver, but after the problems occured I removed the card, done a boot and shutdown and installed it again. Didn't help 😕

Some systems want the software installed prior to the hardware. You may need to uninstall the device driver first, then reinstall it prior to loading the hardware.
